L.A. Reid Is The Musique Man

Legendary Producer/Executive L.A. Reid has confirmed that he will indeed step down as Island Def Jam's leading CEO. He delivered a rather heartfelt message to all his devoted colleagues, staff and talent roster. The following is the opening introduction to his letter featuring a quote from former General Colin Powell.
"Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand."

"To my Island Def Jam family: After much consideration, I have decided to leave my position as Chairman of the Island Def Jam Music Group. I have always thrived on growth and the next great challenge, and I look forward with much enthusiasm to what the future holds. I am extremely proud of our beautiful roster and all we have accomplished in my seven years with IDJ. We continue to have incredible success together with today’s most phenomenal superstars - Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey (she reportedly will follow L.A.), Kanye West, Bon Jovi, Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, Rick Ross, The Killers, The-Dream, Chrisette Michele, Jeezy and Ludacris to name a few. I want to thank all of you for your amazing contributions.

With Warm Regards -
LA.

This news comes in light after reports surfaced that L.A. would be jumping train on the judging panel on the upcoming X-Factor show starring and produced by another musique executive legend, mister Simon Cowell.

If only I could petition my name as a possible judge. A few singer friends of mine in the musique business have coined me the Clive Davis of the 21st century. Now, i'm never one to toot my own horn yah know. A gentleman must keep some level of modesty and privacy but I must say, i'm never one to refuse a challenge. Not a positive one that is. Especially not one that would allow me to learn, manifest, and provide an influential point of view. But one can dream. And if this last year has taught me anything kiddas, cliche sounding or not, dreams really do come true.
