Madonna's W.E. Official Trailer

Determined to make her mark in cinematic history, Pop Queen Madonna's theatrical trailer for her full feature directorial debut "W.E." has been released and it is a beauty!

The film shot on location in London, England, France and the United States with help from friend and screen writer Alek Keshishian(who previously worked with Madonna on her 1991 documentary Truth or Dare) is well written and beautifully captured, telling the story of two women's hardship's in keeping their romances alive.

Synopsis:
W.E tells the story of two fragile but determined women - Wally Winthrop (Abbie Cornish) and Wallis Simpson - separated by more than six decades. In 1998, lonely New Yorker Winthrop is obsessed with what she perceives as the ultimate love story: King Edward VIII's abdication of the British throne for the woman he loved, American divorcee Wallis Simpson. But Winthrop's research, including several visits to the Sotheby's auction of the Windsor Estate, reveals that the couple's life together was not as perfect as she thought. Weaving back and forth in time, the film intertwines Wally's journey of discovery in New York with the story of Wallis (Andrea Riseborough) and Edward (James D'Arcy), from the glamorous early days of their romance to the slow unraveling of their lives in the decades that followed.

"W.E." is expected for release in early 2012 domestically in the United States.

Madonna Will Make Her Directorial Debut!

Get ready you Madonna fantatics and all fashion lovers around. The first photo stills for Madge's upcoming directorial debut film, "W.E." have been unleashed. Via Grazia, W.E. stars Abbie Cornish portraying a woman living in the year 1998 who is enthralled with the 1930's marriage between King Edward VIII (portrayed by James D’Arcy) and Wallis Simpson (portrayed by Andrea Riseborough).

The film is said to go from past and present times, juxtaposing King Edward VIII's marriage and love trials.

Based on the few photo images that have been unleashed, aesthetically, speaking costume wise, this film promises to be a spectacularly decadent cinematic experience! Costume designer Arianne Phillips also who helms as Madge's personal stylist, also put together the looks for such memorable films as "A Single Man" (a favorite film of mine.) I must attempt to keep my knickers in a bunch, for I can't wait for the release of this film!!!

On a side note, lets take a look at where it all began! Th Queen of Pop's first ever performance.

Gwen Stefani Does a Kid’s Line for Target and Madonna’s Material Girl Expands (Now Includes Beauty)

One of our favorite fashion writer's, Cheryl Wischhover, shares that both Gwen Stefani and Madonna have alot in common these days...
"Whether you’re a hip parent with a newborn or a teen on the verge of leaving the juniors’ department, pop star mommies Madonna and Gwen Stefani have you covered.

Gwen Stefani‘s Harajuku Lover’s line is shrinking down for the diaper and preschool set; Stefani is taking her pop-arty ode to Japanese street dressing and making it kid friendly for Target. Called Harajuku Mini for Target, the line will be introduced in November and again in January 2012. While she’s designed children’s clothing and shoes for her contemporary LAMB line, this is a first for the younger Harajuku line.

“Target has given me the creative freedom to design kid’s clothing that is different than most anything you usually see out there with great quality, attention to detail and most of all, available at amazing prices,” Stefani told WWD. The prices will range from $3.99 to $29.99, which is very refreshing, considering all the high-end children’s lines that are launching lately. Stefani’s kids Kingston and Zuma are always at the apex of style, so we expect great things from this line.

Moving up a few grade levels, Madonna and daughter Lola’s Material Girl line at Macy’s is doing so well that they’re expanding into new territory. Sleepwear, intimates, and beauty offerings are all on the horizon for the juniors’ line.

When it launches, the beauty line will include nail polish, lip gloss, and body sprays and lotions (and with names like Wicked Watermelon, Flirty Fruit, and Sinful Sugar, you get an idea of the scents.) “I chose scents that I loved,” Lourdes told WWD. The beauty line will retail from $7 to $12, comparable to drug store prices.

Intimates are new to the collection, but don’t expect Gaultier cone bras. Sweet rose and polka dot prints, boyfriend briefs, and lace will define the offerings.

Finally, expect to see more party dresses, outerwear, and trendy denim. Kelly Osbourne continues on as the face of the brand in upcoming fall ads."

Out with Vintage Madonna

A year before her first album, an unknown Madonna
invited Richard Corman to photograph her in and around her New York City walk-up. The pictures he took that day, published here for the first time, capture the energy and vitality of a woman destined to become a legend.

My mother was Cis Corman, a renowned casting director in New York City. In the summer of 1982 she was casting The Last Temptation of Christ for Martin Scorsese and called me to say they had just tested a girl for the part of the Virgin Mary. She said, "You must meet this girl -- she’s an original." I was 28 and had just finished an apprenticeship with Richard Avedon and was looking for interesting people to shoot. So I got this girl’s number and called. It was Madonna. At the time she was living in Alphabet City, and she suggested I go to her apartment and chat about what I wanted to do. I had to call her from a phone booth across the street, because the neighborhood was full of drug dealers, and they didn’t let people just walk in and out. There was a group of kids outside the building, on the stoop, in the hallways, and when I said I was there for Madonna the seas parted.

I looked up the staircase, and I saw this girl leaning over the edge of the banister, and even from three stories below I could see these catlike eyes just looking down. I knew at that moment that she had something special -- I really did. She had her best friend and neighbor, Martin, with her -- he later died of AIDS—and we sat and talked. She served me a cup of coffee on a silver tray with three pieces of Bazooka bubblegum. There was no pretense to it. When I came back a few days later to shoot her, she said, "You know, we should go up to the roof because I go up there with all the kids from the building." She was like the Pied Piper of the neighborhood -- they loved her. They followed her, they danced with her, they sang with her. It was something they did on a daily basis, and it was remarkable. We just walked up and they gathered around. She put the boom box on -- it was her music, though I don’t remember which song -- and they just started dancing and singing. She was so alive and unpretentious. She was fierce, determined. Nothing was going to stop her.

After we came down from the rooftop, we walked through the neighborhood, laughing and chatting, stopping in front of a storefront that you see in one of the shots, stopping in front of a senior citizen’s home and hanging out with the old folks. For me, like her, when I do a shoot now, I’ve got eight people around me -- but that day it was just the two of us. I would shoot her a couple more times, once for the campaign for Vision Quest, with Matthew Modine and Linda Fiorentino. It was a hot coming-of-age film about wrestling in the Northwest, and she was the singer in the little bar that some of these teenagers would hang out in. By then Madonna was becoming hot and big, and -- in the nicest way -- she would go to whoever would help her and move her ahead. I was that person to begin with because of the connection to my mother. But as soon as she had that rocket to fame she was off to the next stage. That’s when Herb Ritts started photographing her exclusively, but that early period of the ’80s was amazing. I was photographing Basquiat and Keith Haring, and just to be part of all that took your breath away. People were truly taking chances. It was just a different energy, and Madonna was the focal point for a lot of that.

A limited edition of these photographs are available for sale on richardcorman.com
